RSPB Installation

Interactive Animation for RSPB Awareness Event


I was invited by John Lumgair to create an interactive animation as part of a larger RSPB installation inside the Trafford Centre in Manchester. The theme was origami, featuring 1,000 paper cranes displayed around bamboo sticks. The interactive animation was designed to invite people to engage and feel a connection with nature by finding the animals hidden in the scene, ultimately encouraging support for the RSPB.

John and I designed and animated it together: He worked on the background design while I focused on the characters, and we split the character animation between us. John animated in After Effects, and I animated in Rive (an app for interactive motion graphics and games). I was able to import the After Effects animation into Rive by first exporting it as a JSON/Lottie file.
